Our Wicked Witch Experience!

In the Wizard of Oz we're introduced to Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North! When meeting the Good Witch for the first time, Dorothy was asked if she was a "good" or "bad" witch. She responds, "I'm not a witch at all, they're old and ugly!" In other words, nothing like the view I hold of myself. I offer, in the opening of the movie Dororthy runs with dog to her family to ask for protection from the neighborhood witch. Dorothy couldn't see that her own behavior as a wicked as Ms. Gulch/the Wicked Witch.

For me, both witches represent "good" and "bad;" "right and wrong;" "yin" and "yang;" "love and fear;" and "shadow" and "light." The shadow, a term originally coined by Carl Jung, is the unconscious. It is all of those things we don’t know about ourselves and/or don't like. Denying the…
